Bamboo
Product Overview
EcoTimber bamboo flooring is made from bamboo plantations—not from wild habitats. Bamboo is a highly renewable resource, harvestable only four to six years after being planted. Its low moisture absorption properties make it ideal for humid climates and applications where moisture might pose a challenge for other types of flooring.
EcoTimber has four formats of bamboo flooring: solid, engineered, strand woven and tile. Our solid, woven and tile bamboo are all constructed entirely from bamboo; while the engineered is constructed of a 1/8” layer of bamboo on top of plantation-grown pine and rubberwood. This construction allows the engineered floor to be floated over radiant heat systems.

Bamboo is a very fast-growing plant--can cut, regrow, and harvest in a very short period of time. It truly is a renewable resource within a time-span that can be renewed.

We had bamboo flooring laid in our entry and family room over two years ago. We are constantly being complimented on it and it still looks as good as new. The product we bought was pre-sealed and we had it laid by a professional floor layer using a 'glue and nail' technique.
It requires absolutely minimal maintenance - a sweep with an anti-static mop and then washing with a mild detergent (we use an eco-friendly one that we can use on the garden when we've finished). Recently, when our grey-water diversion hose came unplugged and the washing machine poured 110 litres of water through the house, the bamboo floor ended up ankle deep in water, but unlike the carpets, which had to be replaced, the bamboo was completely unaffected.
We're now saving up to extend this beautiful floor into our dining and lounge rooms.

We used EcoTimber Woven bamboo for our living room floor. We always get compliments, and several people have not even recognized it as bamboo. The floor is very hard, and so far very durable. I put the floor down, with the help of a carpenter. It is not really a one man job, but a experienced do-it-yourselfer, with a good helper should do OK. I would not attepmt it without a good table saw, and a good jig saw, a chop saw is also helpful.
The floor fits together T&G style with a quick set glue. This is great because there is no clamping, but you better get the fit right the first time, once the glue sets, it is set. We dry fit every board before gluing.
